Connecting loose ends- Planning for the First and the Last mile by Arup
Time & Location
About The Event
Public transit is key to inclusive mobility and ensuring that our cities transition towards a
sustainable future. For many cities, the focus is to provide overarching transit infrastructures
such as metro, light rail, or bus priority systems. However, in many cases, what falls through
the cracks is the planning and design of the first and last-mile connections that people use to
reach their final destinations.
The masterclass would focus on the integration of first and last-mile connectivity within our
cities through the discussion of existing challenges and opportunities within the UAE using our
local experience as well as our extensive global research on this topic.
What will participants achieve at the end of the workshop?
Participants will gain an understanding of the principles of design and planning for the first and
last mile with examples of how to apply than in real context.
